This June 2019 Astrology forecast is a monthly overview of the planetary energies at work. If you’re interested in learning more about how these influences will play out in your own life, check out the monthly horoscopes section (coming soon).
June 2019 features a tricky opposition between the malefic planets, Mars and Saturn, that will likely be a bit intense and uncomfortable for many people. At the same time we are leading up to a heavy Eclipse Season (with 2 Eclipses and Mercury Retrograde coming up in July).
New Moon in Gemini: Gathering Information
On Monday, June 3rd, there is a New Moon in Gemini. This is a mentally provoking Moon, seeding several interesting ideas and possibilities. We may have several threads we want to pull through – jumping from one thing to the next. Gemini calls us to attention: it wants to engage our minds.
Intellectual Gemini enjoys playing off of words, ideas, and unexplored avenues. As the Moon is our need, the Moon in Gemini is our need for stimulation and variation. There is a desire to switch things up and to take on a different perspective. We feel drawn in by conversation – whether face to face, digital, or on the page – and maybe all three in some sort of balancing act.
Although it is eager for information, knowledge, and connections, this Moon is as yet in the Dark. It wants more but it also has an impulse to turn within. The data isn’t in yet… and experience is necessary, but only when the time is right.
Around the New Moon there can be a kind of slowing down that happens. We are germinating.
First Quarter Moon in Virgo: Assimilation
The first quarter moon is in Virgo on Sunday, June 9th. This sign is also ruled by Mercury, but here Mercury is exalted. He/she is grounded and clear, having become quiet and reserved because it needs to assimilate all the information that it has taken in.
By now some data has been collected; we can sift through and analyse what we have to work with. This will be important as we move toward the Full Moon. There are a lot of unknowns at the moment, although our imaginations are quite alert to all potentialities.
On the same day as the quarter moon in Virgo, the Sun squares Neptune. While we’re poring over our collections, we might feel pulled toward making fantastic extrapolations. Take these with a grain of salt today, as there may be something that comes to light later on that would bring you back to earth about this.
This may be a sensitive time where we feel a bit touchy and unsure of ourselves in some way, especially as we go into a fairly active and emotional Full Moon period.
The day after the first quarter moon, Jupiter Retrograde is at opposition and is the closest to the Earth as it will be this year, appearing bright in the night sky.
Mercury in Cancer: Expressing Emotional Needs
Mercury starts off the month mingling with the Sun & Moon; in an active acquisition mode, we gather our opinions.
Very soon after the New Moon – on Tuesday, June 4 – Mercury enters Cancer. This will start opening up some channels of emotional expression or the emotional floodgates, and facilitating more intimate conversation. Our attention shifts to a deepening awareness of our inner feelings about what has been stirred up inside of us.
Now in Cancer, Mercury has started a dramatic adventure that will play out from now until August. The real fun begins in the lead-up to the Full Moon. The very first waves of this come on June 7th, when Mercury aspects both Uranus and Chiron, touching on our sensitive points and poking the sleeping giant within.
On Saturday, June 15th, Mercury is on the North Node of the Moon, the Dragon’s Head. This is a sensitive point that will be activated during the upcoming Eclipse season. A Solar Eclipse in Cancer is coming on July 2nd, followed by a Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn on July 16th.
At the same time, Mars is in Cancer (from May 15th through July 1st), moving toward the Dragon’s Head as well, which he will reach ahead of Mercury on June 12th.
Mars and Mercury: Demanding Pressure to Meet our Needs
Mars is our drive, energy, and initiative, and here our actions are directed toward what feels right. We are more tapped in to our physical intuition. We act to protect and can be fierce in our instinct to defend what we love.
As Mercury applies to a conjunction with Mars in Cancer (exact on July 18th), they both trine Neptune and oppose Saturn. This complicates our awareness of objectivity versus our mood-induced impulses. Between these days is the Full Moon in Sagittarius.
Once they get together, Mercury and Mars in Cancer oppose Pluto in Capricorn on Wednesday the 19th. Intimate conversations and actions driven by emotion take the fore. We are all pressed to come to terms with what is ending in our lives.
Something is being constricted and burned off in this process. Mars and Mercury create a hot air vent for a lot of steamy pressure to escape. Tempers / moods can fly high.
Mercury in the Shadow & in Leo: Entering the Review Period
Mercury enters the shadow zone of its impending Retrograde on June 19th. The Retrograde will be from July 7 to July 31. It will be in the shadow zone from June 19 to August 15.
What does it mean that Mercury is in the shadow zone at the end of June? Anything that happens or that you’re considering during this time will be up for review and reconsideration during the Retrograde. Once Mercury is Direct again, it will traverse the same territory a third time before moving forward. Symbolically this is the need to double back and ensure you know what you’re dealing with.
In Leo and Cancer, Mercury is concerned with self-expression and emotional authenticity. Many of us may be feeling pushed to a breaking point with the Saturn/Pluto opposite Mars messiness. There’s a feeling of frustration and being backed into a corner. We may have to blast our way out and do it, somehow, as tactfully as possible.
The way we express the deep changes in our lives can be colorful and dramatic. We will likely be very much in our feelings. It may take reminding to think of the other people affected by our decisions, needs, and reactions.
Venus in Taurus & Gemini: Finding Peace and Distraction in the Midst of Difficulties
Venus is in her sensual home sign of Taurus from May 15th until June 8th. This has been a more or less pleasant and harmonious influence. Venus is tactile and grounded here. Things are changing as the inner planets move into Gemini and Cancer. Venus must move on from her treasured garden to move about in the world.
Venus in Gemini (June 8th – July 3rd) is graceful, witty, and social, enjoying connections between people very much. She is turned on by intellectual stimulation and enjoys collaboration and variety. Her influence can keep us moving when the waters between Mercury and Mars feel stagnant and heavy.
We can be so much in our feelings this month; having Venus in a light air sign can be a very nice counterbalance. Sometimes it may be all we need to take a break and distract ourselves. This could be with a good book, a game, or a flight of fancy. Venus in Gemini can take our minds off of our problems for a spell or two.
Full Moon in Sagittarius
In the midst of the fire is a deep breath of optimism offered by the Full Moon in Sagittarius. This Full Moon brings to completion the 6-month cycle which began in December of 2018. It is the last lunation before Eclipse season.
Although there is a lot going on this month, we do get a reprieve with the Full Moon. However, it sits in the middle of all the muck.
Remember that this purging process is permanent in effect but temporary in its process. You can attempt to work it for the better in your life.
Last Quarter Moon in Aries
The last quarter moon is in Aries on the 25th. As we round out this Moon cycle, we are motivated to enact changes and take action. This is the lead up to the New Moon / Solar Eclipse in Cancer. This would be a good time to check in with yourself and what you have going on next month.
